ABOUT

In 1968, the Rocky River Public Library Foundation was established by far-sighted individuals who understood that an outstanding library cannot be maintained through public funds alone. The Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit; tax exempt 501(c) (3) organization to seek support to supplement tax-based funding for the exclusive benefit of the Library. Led by a Board of Directors representing the city of Rocky River’s business and community leaders, the Foundation now holds and manages close to $400,000 in donated assets. The Board supports the Library’s mission and vision through fundraising, serving as advocates for the Library, and assisting with special events. The Foundation works in conjunction with the Library’s administrator to select projects for support. The Board’s responsibilities also include: establishing a prudent investment plan; selecting qualified financial advisors; maintaining the fund’s records; and monitoring investment performance.

MISSION 

The Mission of the Rocky River Public Library Foundation is to support and enhance the Library’s goal of exemplary service, collections, programs and facilities beyond the level made possible by public funding.

FOUNDATION SUPPORT

The Foundation augments public funds with donations to help our first-class Library preserve its tradition of excellence.  Your gift can be used to: purchase new materials, upgrade our equipment and facilities, fund new initiatives and projects, underwrite staff training, or for other expenditures that the Library is unable to afford through public funding alone.  The Foundation focuses on raising unrestricted dollars to provide flexibility in supporting the Library in areas of traditional library service, as well as responding to emerging needs and trends. If you wish, however, you can restrict your donation to specific areas.

The Foundation accepts the following types of contributions:

• Cash
• Stocks, securites
• Life insurance policies
• Bequests in wills or living trusts

Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Corporate matching gifts as well as donations made in honor or memory of an individual or event are welcome.
