Call for Artists

Rocky River Public Library and the Cowan Pottery Museum are looking for a speaker for our 2023 Cowan Symposium on April 15th.

For over 30 years this all-day event has celebrated the legacy of the Cowan Pottery Studio and the creative ingenuity of our area. We are seeking an artist to share their work and discuss how they use slip-casting in their art practice. The selected artist will prepare and present an hour-long slide presentation that showcases their art practice and explains how they utilize the different aspects of slip-casting in the work. This event will be presented in person as well as live streamed and will include time in the end for Q&A.

'' The selected artist will have their work featured in the Library’s Community Case from April 1, 2023 to April 30, 2023 and have access to the Community Case during normal operating hours starting on March 26, 2023 for installation. The case is 72” wide, 62” tall, and 19” deep and features moveable glass shelves and upholstered backing.

The selected artists will receive a $300 honorarium for speaking at the Symposium and exhibiting their work. The artists will be selected by members of the RRPL staff and will be notified by October 28, 2022. This call is open to all artists 18 years and older who use clay as a medium.
